Brian Witte is known for developing creative solutions to extreme technical challenges. He graduated from the civil engineering program in 1999, starting his career as a field engineer working on multimillion-dollar heavy civil infrastructure projects throughout the United States and Canada. For the next 10 years, he led projects and training as a senior engineer with many departments of transportation. His early work earned his selection as Engineering News Record’s Top 20 Under 40 in 2012.
Joining Parsons in 2014, Witte developed new techniques and means of construction while maintaining the safety of his crews and the surrounding community and environment. He is the co-inventor of the Porcupile, a patent-pending deep foundations design improvement— a solution he originally created to address a project challenge. He was promoted to his current position of vice president of construction engineering at Parsons in 2018.
Witte is a Professional Engineer in 10 states and two Canadian provinces and has been involved in award-winning projects around the world. He is active in serving with professional organizations, publishing articles for the construction engineering field, like girder stability, consulting on projects to find innovative solutions, and giving guest lectures back at Iowa State. Witte contributes to the innovation of industry education with his involvement in committee work for the National Steel Bridge Alliance, Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute, and others to extend the collective industry knowledge.
Witte is a mentor to engineers and students, often volunteering his time towards guiding future engineers. He also values giving back with his expertise, working with The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and Bridges to Prosperity to build pedestrian bridges in remote areas of Central America to connect isolated communities.
