- 1991, Engineering News Record recognized the program as one of the top construction programs. Furthermore, Gourman Report recognized ISU’s Construction Engineering Program as the top construction engineering program in the country.
- 1995, The first doctoral student in Construction Engineering completed study in 1995.
- 1996, Iowa State University ranks in the top 10 public universities nationwide that enroll National Merit Scholars, according to a new annual report.
- 1998, ISU Student Chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) and ISU Student Chapter of National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) received its first charter in 1998. The next year ISU Mechanical Contractors Association (ISU MCA).
- 1999, Iowa State’s central campus is named a Centennial Medallion site by the American Society of Landscape Architects, one of only three U.S. universities to be so honored.
- 1999, Town Engineering Building exclusively housed civil and construction engineering curricula starting in 1999, when aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics moved to Howe Hall.
- 1999, The Iowa Center for Emerging Manufacturing Technology is renamed as the Virtual Reality Applications Center. Stanley and Helen Howe Hall is dedicated. Iowa State’s Society of Women Engineers chapter wins five national awards, including first place for the best student outreach program in the nation.
